michelle shall keep a distance away from the madding crowd during 28may - 1june, when she will be ensconced in a (truly) world of her own inhabited by words and other nice people. she might end up at home a week later speaking in verses, acting like a wonderfully-characterized character so essential in drama, or, heaven forbid, being the same old loony that she is, but the future is unpredictable, so they say, and therefore michelle shall just concentrate on being horribly excited right now.

CAPSeminar'o7 ; wiring heartlands! (:

[and when she gets back she can officially add 'CAPper' to her profile. ohjoy!]

yay michelle i am proud of you for finishing the advanced math paper! (: and don't worry for leaving out the bonus question, let's hope you got the correct answers to the rest of questions first.

yay michelle got the original london cast recording of 'the phantom of the opera' and is swooning over it now. thank you and much love to dearest charmaine. :D

not yay, but michelle thinks that fls is really frustrated/irritated/angry/(insert word of choice) with her considering that she seems to be busy (almost) every single day of the holidays, but she can't help it, can she?

yay okay michelle must go do her piece on 'wiring heartlands' for CAPSem'o7 now! and decorate her journal. (: and attempt to finish reading 'anansi boys' by sunday even though she's less than 1/8 through.

one last yay before she goes, and that's yay because she got 'the monk'! apparently there are only 3 copies in singapore. O.O (sorry stacey.)

[hey it would seem that i would have succeded in being increasingly succinct. or maybe that's because all these short posts now lack inspiration. -.-"]

i marvel at my immense linguistic abilities. really!

while doing my literature fa on sonnets, i was going to make a point on how sonnets were usually concerned with amorous love, until i decided to consult the good old dictionary and got fully grossed out by the definition. (one wonders how i even got to know that word O.O) so i spent around 3 minutes looking for synonyms to put my idea across in a less ahem manner...

...when all along the word i needed was, romantic.

sigh.

i am highly tempted to post now! for reasons unknown, and i don't have anything to write about actually. i wish i could just throw away the need to revise for advanced math sa, physics quiz and the like, and just read, write, and so on; basically do what i want to do. my holidays seem really cramped anyhow, like hmm, consider this:

1st week: CAPSeminar'o7 (which i thoroughly do not mind, or in other words, would greatly enjoy; an abstinence from homework for a week may perhaps cure me of my procrastination)
5th-6th june: pb symposium (and well, almost the first large-scale pb event i've attended)
9th june: level cip (and oops, our group service-learning project is, hmm.)
20th june: yet another writing camp, though this time in chinese. O.O
some unknown date: group service-learning outing! (:

and amongst all that would be (maybe not so random) rs meetings, plus valiant attempts to finish 3 book reports for chinese, another for english and produce a decent history pt. [pffft we still haven't gotten our instruction sheets!] oh, and prepare properly for lr, read up for viva voce, write programme notes...yeah you get the idea.

but it should still be quite alright! [i think i may have been wired to be overly optimistic. which is quite good, but can be disastrous at times, seriously.] i've gotten a nice book to read for the english book report - neil gaiman's 'anansi boys' (but blah i wish i bought 'fragile things' before it got snapped up by others) - and i'm almost itching to read matthew lewis' 'the monk' for rs, after having learnt about the wonderful intricacies of gothic literature. (: amidst all that i shall find time to finish 'the inheritance of loss' and well, 'the shadow of the wind', which both look highly inviting. wish i bought 'the time traveller's wife' as well, grawr, seems like it's a real good book. then again, i wouldn't exactly have time to finish all that, would i?

it would seem as if i've gotten back some of my annotative skills, not that they're good or anything, but at least it beats floundering like a lost idiot. sonnets still disagree with me, sadly.

pfft back to revising for math then. hmph.

random thoughts from yesterday and today. (:

i must say i'm really thankful for the oh-so-wonderful parents that i have, because they aren't half as pressurizing as the parents of quite a lot of people out there. except when my dad wants to be ahem, funny and demands to know why i didn't get full marks for mep. -.-" further elaborations are going to be risky, so i'm just going to leave it at that.

listening to dahil isayo sung by seniors (or was it by another school choir, i didn't really catch what msloo was saying O.O) 10 years ago is such a fulfilling experience. somehow there seems to be this connection, this bond that brings us together? it's just undescribable - or maybe i lack the ability to describe it - but this moment frozen in time makes everything seem ten times more profound. imagine, just imagine that maybe 10, 20 years down the road, another batch of rgs girls will be listening to what you're singing now, something maybe even you've forgotten, but is just there. and it's such a tremulous feeling to know that 10 years ago, seniors have sung this before; after 10 years, you're singing this, and another decade more, you'll get another batch making music out of this piece. the continuity, perhaps even the legacy, is so cool that it's well, mildly petrifying. x)

and ahh, i again have no idea why, but i felt extremely proud when 113 went on stage for the rbd performance today! it isn't as if i'm their class i/c or something, but perhaps it has something to do with knowing them as our dearest mortal class. :D and i truly think 209's performance was awesome. i liked the conceptualization of the play! (:

plus i'm happy for people like chloe! :D but worried for others blah.

okay physics journal beckons, and apparently i have yet to learn coherence. nevermind.

checking of marks today. x) can't say that i was very disappointed, but one wonders whether to feel happy or sad. comparatively, i might have done quite okay (?), but falling short of your own expectations makes you feel like the world's greatest idiot. and i hate it when i don't do half as well in a subject that i really like as compared to something that i'm just okay with. it just isn't an accurate reflection of your passion for the subject, and seriously i wish i could perform more consistently for my humanities.

english was, let's say, a humongous let-down. perhaps it's true that the teachers are stricter in marking this year, and i daresay that the delineation between acceptable and unacceptable answers isn't exactly the most obvious of things, but i guess it isn't really right to give excuses to yourself? well, not that i haven't tried my best, but if there are certain things that are not up to standard, i'm not going to blame the teachers for imposing that standard on me. because honestly, i'll need to learn these things some day, and maybe i'll just have to learn it the hard way this time round. (like ahem, phrasing my points in a less convoluted manner. and improving on my summary content, which is pffffffft.) narrative's not going to be returned in this semester, which means my report card isn't going to look as nice as last year's, but well, let's just hope that things will look up after my narrative's returned, or at the end of the year. that said, i'm quite scared for my narrative - what exactly defines the genre of science fiction? at any rate i'd much rather be paranoid than be overly self-confident.

O.O my mum says the teacher might have took off too many marks for wrong words in my chinese compo. okay i'm going to check with the teacher tomorrow, but i don't fancy my chances with getting extra marks anyway, considering i've signed on the marksheet and stuff. silly me. :X geog = pure stupidity on my part, what with not reading the question closely enough and going on with incorrect assumptions.

enough on marks anyhow. i reckon it's not bad a present to myself, but at times i wish i'd tried harder, been less careless, and so on. then again, i guess i've done all i could, really.

on another note, i like writing credit slips! :D it's a good way of thanking people whom you otherwise wouldn't have gotten a chance to show your appreciation to, and it just brings back good memories reflecting on your interactions with those dear friends of yours. (: i shall not dwell on the fact that i don't exactly have a lot of credit slips. it might be a little sad to see people getting loads of credit slips and yourself getting considerably lesser, but well, that doesn't really matter. it's nice to get credit slips of course, but i don't live just for that green piece of paper. there's much more to life, i reckon, and sometimes you just can't get everything?

birthday tomorrow, wonder if anyone will remember, hmm. (maybe not, considering i almost forgot myself.) somehow as you get older these events don't make such a deep impact on you as they used to do; are we getting too concerned with fulfilling the demands of life to even enjoy the finer things bestowed upon us? it's scary to realize that you've missed out on the fact that your birthday is only, say, 10 days away all the while. i mean, it just doesn't feel right.

and tomorrow, we'll know if we've gotten through the auditions for the rbd performances. i love our script and our actors, though i know i'm rather guilty of not participating as actively as i would have wanted to. i hope we do get in, because everyone else has put in so, so much effort and it would be relatively depressing if all of that went to waste. but then again, these stuff bring and bond our class together, so results don't exactly matter at the end of the day.

dahil isayo is awfully nice! i don't know, but somehow the harmonies are just so beautiful. i shall blatantly ignore the (ahem, cheesy) lyrics though, even when the presence of lyrics is what makes song distinctly different from other musical forms. and that's probably why i find it easier now to connect with songs, or well, programmatic pieces than just pure music, even though it's said that music conveys millions of wordless messages. but i think concrete ideas work better with me. (grawr this makes me sound really dull, as if i can't make my own meaning about music or something. ohwell, nevermind.) and a musical extravaganza! (: the esplanade concert sounds awfully cool, but the fact that we'll have to confirm our repertoire by next week makes the imposing schedule seem twice as serious. anyway, tickets from sistic and a concert at esplanade is all that matters, and i don't mind slogging it out for that. :D

byebye jap show-and-tell, maybe i might keep the powerpoint for memories' sake. and i'm thankful it made up for my mediocre compo marks.

i've got too much to say, it seems, and i haven't learnt how to moderate. it's bad, but it's entertaining. maybe moderation is something i've got to learn? 14 tomorrow, we'll see how it goes then.

random things that made me happy today include the reinstating of packet milo in school - meaning a switch back to lower prices! - and hmm, blogger getting back to its normal old self, and not remaining in its conked out alter ego. and talking about alter egos and doppelgangers, i'm so glad for gothic literature. it's just tremendously fascinating, and haha, i love my rs groupmates! :D

[okay blah this post is horrendously incoherent. let's make it two things to learn by tomorrow, before i turn 14: moderation and coherence. but then again, maybe it's a bit impossibe to accomplish both in less than 12 hours.]

okay my computer ought to die a painful death, seriously. first it refuses to accept japanese input of any kind, which means michelle has to resort to stupid methods of translating japanese words into english, going into a english-japanese dictionary, typing the english word, copying the translated japanese words (if they happen to be the words i'm looking for) into the slides for show-and-tell and getting downright irritated throughout the entire process. second even blogger turns out wonky, so i am typing in some weird aberration of a box. thanks a lot, this (ahem) faithful machine. -.-"

CAPSem'o7 sounds awfully fun. wiring heartlands and the resulting, infinite possiblities. (: [haha i think the jc people are really cool, their truly original insights and all.] still trying to fathom out an interpretation of the theme that fits though; somehow i can tell that the writing task is going to be one tough journey ahead. ohwell, can't wait to fill up my journal with words, what with new pens from massive pen-shopping after myas (i say it's funky when you pronounce it 'meeeyas' xD) and well, an urge to write, somehow, even though my thumb refuses to cooperate by staying numb. hmm maybe numbing it further will bring about a reversal in the situation? yes, that shall be the most logical way to do things. (note: sentence saturated with sarcasm.)

sometimes i think i ought to fill this place up with more constructive stuff. but then that's going somewhere else. anyway i think our school has a, well, okay i shall refrain from commenting about post-mya activities. i think my point has been sufficiently brought across.

i want to know who my roommate for CAPSem is! (: and hopefully i get all the workshops i opted for. and the performance workshop of course. :D

okay i shall abandon stupid blogger with the conked out layout now. buy cookies from rgspb during ora tomorrow! (: [though no one will know this in time.]

ohwhee scary english comprehension (i draw your attention to the world's deadliest testing method, the summary) and history myas (yet another of the world's deadliest testing methods, sbqs) are over! (: means i can heave a huge sigh of relief, while blatantly ignoring the fact that i) i might suffer from instant brainfreeze during the english / chinese - take your pick - composition paper; ii) there are 4 forests for be to learnt about for geography, and in the first place i have currently no idea which is which, much less the characteristics of them all and iii) i am horrendously careless for indices and the like. well, it's 2 down, 4 more to go, with 1/3 of the exams annihilated and smashed out of the way, there isn't any reason why we can't rejoice, is there?

okay now i shall be a good girl and go bury my face in natural vegetation. notes about natural vegetation, of course.

meanwhile the music can play on in my absence. (and why why why are the choir syf recordings of disgusting quality?! i feel cheated.)

oh i think ravel's piano concerto is truly fascinating, but this is equally nice too, and hmm, decidedly more accesible, i reckon. (pffffft, youtube splits it up into two parts.)

lives, writes, sings, plays the piano, and attempts to sound intellectual at times (conclusion: fails rather miserably).

loves music (almost strictly classical, hurhur & inclusive of faziolis!), literature (& also the sciences - no they are not in conflict), making hopelessly lame puns, laughter, white/milk chocolate, cheesecake, the world & the people in it. list not exhaustive, by the way.

wants the world to be filled with peace, joy and love, and also wants (perhaps a little more selfishly) to be happy, plus lead a life of purpose. that would be more than enough. (:

oh, and she likes embarking on her own 'free hugs!' campaigns after exams and the like; not really sure why. D: (at any rate, you can tell that she's random enough.)

loves you!♥

very plain, she knows; but this is probably herself in its entirety - nothing more than a compilation of perhaps-boring-to-you little things (and the occasional Important Event), but also nothing less than all the brilliant memories which constitutes her life, and perhaps yours.

also interpreted as an inability to express with other things but words (nothing more, nothing less!), although even words sometimes won't do enough. but she does like orange.

v2.0 (230208): maybe solid grey isn't that fantastic after all. but wordy is good, all the same. she's weird, she knows.

ver. i-pretend-that-it-is-3.0-when-i-know-it-is-not (070608): i am boring, take that. (:

v4.0 (200908): got bored, so cut down on the quasi-fanciful stuff even more. perfectly plain now, though somehow the background still doesn't work on safari / google chrome. ):
